IEC 61482

The IEC 61482 standard was drawn up for clothing that protects against the thermal hazards and consequences of an electric (flame) arc, also known as 'electric arc'. This clothing falls into the third safety class, which means it must be inspected annually. Protection against the effects of an electric arc can be tested in two ways: via the 'open arc' method (IEC 61482-1-1) or via the BOX test (IEC 61482-1-2). In both test methods, a cloth and a garment are tested and a single value is obtained. No energy value is determined here, but the garment is checked for defects after exposure to the arc. These defects relate to fastenings, seams and all other accessories.
